How we make money

Updated

Testing casinos, reading bonus small print and keeping reviews current takes paid hours. This page explains where the money for those hours comes from, how it reaches the publisher, Moorhenwick Networks Limited, and the rules we keep so that it does not bend what we write. Read it alongside our terms and disclaimer.

Who pays for OnlineCasinoProfi

Casino operators, and only through affiliate deals. Readers pay nothing: there is no subscription, no members’ area and no banner advertising. Several of the casinos reviewed here have an agreement with the publisher. If you follow one of their links and register, the casino may credit us with a fee. Agreements differ. One kind is a flat sum per new player who deposits, another a revenue share running for an agreed stretch of months, and there are hybrids of both.

Does it cost you anything?

No. Arriving through our link leaves your deposit, your bonus and your account terms exactly as they would be otherwise. Now and then a casino runs an offer reserved for visitors from a named site. When that happens we label it in the review, and the casino remains the one making and honouring the offer.

Telling the links apart

Partner links
“Visit casino”, “Claim offer” and similar buttons, plus any address under /go/. These carry a tracking code so the casino can see that the new customer came from OnlineCasinoProfi.
Reference links
Links pointing to GRAI, to help services, to software houses, to wallets and banks, or to the press. Unpaid, untracked, there because they are useful.
Our own links
Links from one review, guide or blog post on this site to another.

Plenty of reviewed casinos are not partners at all. Readers ask about them, or they are well known in Ireland, so we review them anyway for no reward.

Can a casino pay for a better score?

It cannot. Every review is scored on the same points: clarity of the terms, weight of the wagering, which payment methods work from Ireland, how fast withdrawals arrive, what limit and self-exclusion tools exist, and how support handles awkward questions. A partner that does badly on those points gets a low score and keeps it. A non-partner can outrank a partner. Casinos never preview a review and cannot pay to sit higher in a table.

Being honest about the pull

Money shapes choices even when it does not touch scores. Our longer reviews lean towards casinos we have deals with, and the tables on hub pages show operators that accept Irish players, many of which are partners. We push back on that by spelling out weak points in plain words and by keeping reviews of non-partner casinos live alongside the rest.

When a partner lets readers down

A deal buys a casino no protection from bad coverage. If readers report slow payouts, confiscated winnings or terms rewritten after the fact, and the reports stand up against the casino’s own documents, the review and its score are revised and the casino can be taken out of our tables altogether. Ending an agreement costs the publisher income; that is a cost we accept rather than keep sending readers somewhere we no longer trust. Readers often notice such a pattern before we do, so their emails are frequently how a problem first reaches us.

Money we turn down

We do not sell sponsored articles dressed as reviews, paid places inside the text of a guide, or links to sites that have nothing to do with Irish players. Now and then an operator offers a higher fee in return for top billing. That is the offer we refuse every time, because a table you cannot trust is worth nothing to you or to us. Gifts, trips and free play offered in exchange for coverage are declined as well.

Spotting a paid link yourself

Hover over a button before clicking. An address beginning onlinecasinoprofi.com/go/ is a partner link, and the casino may pay for your sign-up. A link that goes straight to another website, or to another page of ours, earns nothing.

Before you click through

Treat our review as a briefing, then check the casino yourself. Read its full terms, find out which authority licenses it and decide on a spending limit first. Gambling is for over-18s only. Should it stop feeling like entertainment, the National Gambling Helpline (1800 936 725) is free and open at any hour.

Changes to this page

If we ever take a new kind of payment, or an existing arrangement changes in a way readers ought to know about, this page is rewritten and its “Updated” line moves on.
